Colonial Williamsburg Virginia 2001

I visited Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown in Virginia from May 25th to 27th. It was cool to see where the first colonists landed, where revolution got started, and where the United States gained its independence. Here are some photos I took of the trip:

The Church
Here is the inside of the Bruton Parish church. It was the first building restored at Colonial Williamsburg. The minister preaches from the balcony at the far right above the man's head. This church is still an active church, having been in business since 1705.
The rich people had these reserved pews in the church. Families had a whole box to themselves and single rich men shared a box with other rich men. This is a picture of George Washington's family pew. There were pews for Thomas Jefferson and John Madison.

Looking South
Looking south down Duke of Gloucester Street, the main street of Colonial Williamsburg, toward the old Capital building. It is not like a theme park. The streets are closed during the day to car traffic but after 10pm you can drive around. During the day a lot people rode bikes around.
