Politics

I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican. I don't feel either party meets all my needs.

Although since the stolen election of 2000, I refuse to support any of the current players in the Republican party and many of the most vocal Republicans are in my view stupid and racist. Your mileage may vary.

That being said, I consider myself a moderate on most issues. I tend to lean left on social issues and I lean right on money issues. My secular humanism leads me to support those issues and solutions that help the most people with the least pain. It doesn't matter who comes up with the solution - Democrat, Republican, or independent - the important thing is to get the best solution and do it.

I express my political and economic viewpoint in essays, some which are listed below, and in two blogs.

Doug's Views - a general interest blog where I write some musings, when I have time, about my world and my place in it. Sometimes light hearted and sometimes deadly serious, these musings should be interesting. All topics are open from politics to religion to movies and music.

Secular Left - my reaction to the religious right and their continued crap foisted on all of us through their lies, name calling, and ignorance.

Here are some essays I have written on Politics:

Why Politics Suck

Economics

I believe everyone should have an equal opportunity for economic success. I also feel that businesses should be regulated when such regulation will create equal opportunity.
