A Visit To Findlay, OH

July 3rd, 2004

I traveled back to Findlay for my cousin's wedding and I took along my digital camera and snapped the following pictures.

This is the inside of St. Michael's original church in Findlay.

This is statue for one of the stations of the cross. I liked the detail and the use of color.

This the statue of Mary at the front of the church. There were a couple of roses at her feet in memory of two uncles who passed away recently.

Here is the happy couple during the ceremony.

Being the 4th of July weekend, the reception had a patriotic theme. Here is my seat at the table named "God Bless America". I got a kick out of that. What is more American than Budweiser beer.

This is where I went to high school.

This the Baptist church where I attended Vacation Bible School one summer. If we memorized a bible verse a day we would get points, those with the most points would win a prize. I still have the golf tee checkers set but can't remember any of the verses I learned.
This is probably one of the oldest Taco Bell restaurants still doing business. It opened in 1980. The owner at the time was the father of boy I played baseball with. I remember crunchy Tacos costing $1.49 each and I loved the Tostadas they use to have. The current owners plan on tearing it down this summer and building the current version of the restaurant.
Before heading back to Columbus, I stopped by to say hello to my Dad. He was killed in the Vietnam war 36 years ago. My grandmother makes sure his marker is decorated for all the patriotic holidays.
Here is a close up of the text on the marker. If he had lived he would be 56 years old.
